The John Bolton saga continues with accusations of his being a serial abuser of underlings and of bizarre behavior in trying to intimidate a woman on a trip to Russia who disagreed with him. Less sexy, but probably more important are charges that he withheld intelligence from Colin Powell's staff before an overseas trip to try to keep Powell on a harder line which Bolton supported.

Asked if she had heard stories about Bolton's abuse of subordinates, Condoleezza Rice replied that was not the John Bolton she knew -- not an energetic defense of Dick Cheney's choice for ambassador to the U.N. But it does cover Condi either way the matter breaks.
